Welcome to the Indiana Shorthorn Association!
The Indiana Shorthorn Association began in 1871. The Shorthorns we know today were first called Durhams when brought to Virginia in 1783. Their meat, milk and power made them a popular breed for the early American settlers. Those same characteristics continue to make the breed popular. Today, the Indiana Shorthorn Association membership includes commercial and purebred breeders raising quality Shorthorn stock. The association connects breeders, buyers and youth looking to promote the breed in Indiana and across the country.
